In conversation with Danielle Gervino from ‘Pineapple & Prosecco’By Style Counsel / July 15, 2017 / Blog,Interviews / 0 Comments
We sat down with Danielle Gervino, a New York-based lifestyle & fashion blogger. Danielle’s blog, ‘Pineapple & Prosecco’, inspires creativity through showcasing her love for fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
How would you describe your own personal style?
I would describe my style as modern-classic with a bohemian vibe. Though I have a ton of fun with new trends that come and go, at the end of the day, I always find myself gravitating towards my classic pieces that are staples in my closet, such as a great pair of denim or a flowy blouse.
What trends are you loving this season?
I can’t get enough of embroidery! I love that designers are experimenting with all different fabrics, and am especially loving embroidered denim as of late.
I’m also very into the statement sleeve. Though this has been a style I have always loved, I am totally indulging in it this year; be it ruffles, bell sleeves, balloon sleeves or trumpet sleeves — I adore them all!
Who is your style Icon?
Sienna Miller — I admire a woman that knows her style and Sienna has this ability to put on any outfit and totally convince you that it works, even when it doesn’t. She has this classic, vintage everyday style, but also isn’t afraid to mix in a little bit of eccentricity. Ultimately, I think it’s the confidence she exudes with each and every style she wears that I appreciate and look up to.
What trends do you think will be big this year?
I’ve been seeing a lot of styles from different time periods come into the spotlight. Particularly, 90s trends like the platform shoe, slip dresses and lace, along with trends from the Romantic Era like high neck collars and frilled sleeves. Stripes seem to have really taken over as well, which I’m not sure how I feel about just yet!
Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
I am very much into small boutiques and love finding unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Typically, however, I stick to stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdales because I can find pieces from my favorite designers all in one place. With my schedule, I rarely step foot into a store, so when it comes to doing my shopping online, I’m all about convenience!
What fashion blogs do you follow?
I often get asked this question and to be honest, while I love to keep up with my favorite fashion bloggers, I rarely have the time to actually visit and read their blogs. With the convenience of social media, you can find me scrolling through my Instagram feed (basically 24/7) and following along with bloggers such as Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam, Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, Danielle Bernstein of We Wore What, and Jess Kirby of Jess Ann Kirby and Molly Hogan of Trendy Chickadee.
Do you listen to music when you are getting ready? If yes, what’s your favorite playlist on Spotify?
I do! I love me some tropical house on Spotify. I typically make my own playlists each season, which my friends and family can’t seem to wait to get their hands on. I love the art of searching for and finding that perfect song and am always searching for new music!
Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?
That’s such a hard question to answer because even the slightest little change could completely throw off my life’s path. Realistically speaking, I see myself continuing to grow a successful business, further along in my blogging career and most likely with a few kids running around!
What are your biggest goals this year?
I am constantly setting goals for myself and altering them as I go, but one that has remained consistent throughout this year is my goal to create a few solid relationships with a select number of key brands that I truly believe in. Of course, working with brands is a huge part of marketing and growing Pineapple & Prosecco, but I am a firm believer in quality over quantity.
What do you find are the top questions your followers tend to ask you most?
I get a lot of blogging-related questions from women who are just starting out about how to build their business. I absolutely love talking with new bloggers, and teaching people about all of the ins and outs of marketing, design, content development, etc. — so much so that I started consulting as a part of my business. There’s something so incredibly fulfilling about watching someone check off major goals they have set.
Pretend you’ve agreed to participate in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. You’ve been told that you are only allowed to bring 5 items of clothing (including shoes and swimwear) and 3 beauty products what would you bring?
I love this question! My dad is a hardcore survivalist so I would be lying if I said I haven’t thought about this before. I’d bring my favorite crewneck sweatshirt, a pair of comfortable sneakers, a super soft. light classic tee, a pair of light, flowy pants that I could tie into shorts if I needed, and a one-piece suit. As for beauty products, I wouldn’t even bother with makeup. I’d definitely bring some sunscreen, a pack of coconut water cleansing face wipes and my go-to drugstore brand moisturizer that I can’t live without!
Where are people most likely to see you?
I am such a homebody at heart! On weekends, you can find me relaxing at home, working on a new project around the house or enjoying the quaint little village that we live in right on the water. Outside of the glitz and glam of blogging, I really live quite a simple life.
