How would you describe your own personal style?
Classic with a twist. I gravitate towards classics made modern with unique details, or I put my own spin on them with accessories or interesting color pairings.
What trends are you loving this season?
Gingham print, white shoes, the color yellow and vintage luggage-inspired bags.
Who is your style Icon?
I don’t have one. I fall in love with characters from movies, like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s… I love costumes from old movies and period films, especially.
What trends do you think will be big this year?
I think athleisure will be even bigger in 2017 than it was in 2016, with even more options and sub-categories within the trend. I also think logo and phrase tee’s will be huge, which we’ve already seen all over the runway at Fashion Week last month.
Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
I do the majority of my shopping online. There are many more options in terms of style and size and it saves major time, although it can get overwhelming ordering so much at once!
What fashion blogs do you follow?
I don’t really follow other blogs.
Do you listen to music when you are getting ready? If yes, what’s your favorite playlist on Spotify?
If I can take my time I do! It depends on the mood I’m in, but I love all kinds of music, especially ambient and anything instrumental.
As the Editor of the site GirlWithCurves.com inspiring woman all around the world to be confident. What would you say are the first steps women should do to start gaining more confidence in their bodies and what they wear?
I think the first step is accepting what you can’t change. I’ve been several different weights and sizes, but my hips will always be wide and that’s okay! Once you learn to accept certain things about your body, the acceptance becomes appreciation and the appreciation becomes love. And once you love yourself there’s no other way to be than confident.
What have been the highlights of your career since starting Girl with curves?
Aside from knowing that my work inspires women to be confident, which is what I take the most pride in of all, being on a Billboard in Times Square, seeing myself in magazines I’ve read since I was 12, interviewing Michelle Obama at the White House and recently walking a runway show at Fashion Week were all pretty amazing!
What do you find are the top questions your followers tend to ask you most?
Lots of questions have to do with body type and what silhouette is best for a certain shape or size. My answer is always the same: wear what you LOVE and what you FEEL GOOD IN, not just what’s “flattering.”
Pretend you’ve agreed to participate in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. You’ve been told that you are only allowed to bring 5 items of clothing (including shoes and swimwear) and 3 beauty products what would you bring?
A Boater Hat, Midi Skirt, Bikini Top, Oversize scarf (that doubles as a sarong, a top, and a skirt!), slip-on sandals. For beauty products, sunscreen, moisturizer and lip balm.
Where are people most likely to see you?
If not in my home, working, at the park with my husband, son and English Bulldog.
