In Conversation With Jessica Ceresino, Founder of TheSportsBrat.comBy Style Counsel / June 21, 2017 / Blog,Interviews / 0 Comments
Meet Jessica Ceresino, the founder of Thesportsbrat.com. TheSportsBrat.com is the girl’s guide to game day! Whether you hate sports, you love them, or don’t care either way; The Sports Brat offers guidance and entertainment for game day.
We were lucky enough to sit down with the gorgeous founder to ask her all things style and fashion.
How would you describe your personal style?
Totally dependent on my mood. Mostly I’m a jeans and tee shirt kind of gal but I love to dress up too. Living in Dallas, I’ve totally opened up my mind to wearing a dress or skirt to a game, which I never used to do. I think of myself as a tomboy so there’s always a classic element to my style and I’m never too girly.
What trends are you loving this season?
I just went crazy while shopping yesterday because I finally had some time and I’m loving shoe trends right now; slides, the stacked heels, and platforms. I think I love them because they’re not so feminine. I also love all things ‘blush’. I want to filter my world to have it be blush tones which is so funny because I hated pink until I made it a part of my logo and now I’ve asked my boyfriend to paint rose gold accents on my car. I’m also super into the statement earring trend, I’m not sure I can pull it off
Who is your style Icon?
I have several: Stassi Shroeder, Jessie James Decker, Olivia Palermo, Kaitlin Bristowe. I’m probably forgetting someone but they’re all classic with their own personality and not too girly!
What trends do you think will be big this year?
I’m terrible at forecasting but I think this interesting denim thing will keep going on, different shapes, cuts, distressing, designs, embellishment and as a jeans girl, I love it!
Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
All over! I have actually started shopping locally a lot more because I just really think it’s cool and fun to connect with the community. Boutiques are always my favorite but when I do shop at a bigger spot it is ShopBop. They have everything I need most of the time. When it comes to sports, I am so lucky to connect with smaller designers like Jane Hudson and Live Love Gameday for my sportier options.
Which fashion blogs do you follow?
I follow a lot but mostly because I love people and love seeing what they’re doing throughout the day. Is that creepy? But it’s so true, I love The Miller Affect, A Double Dose, Amelia Styles, Cara Loren, and The Fashion Hour. They have a perfect mix of fashion and real life, thanks to Instagram stories, I get to go along to all these incredible events with them and lust over their new purchases.
Do you listen to music when you are getting ready? If yes, what’s your favorite playlist on Spotify?
I’m not a huge music buff but when I’m working out and when I’m getting ready to go out, I totally listen to music. Again, this so depends on my mood. It’s generally something Top 40. I wish I had the acumen to find cool artists but I just love a good popular beat!
Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
Alive. Just kidding but sometimes I’m such a dreamer I get so overwhelmed with plans and I forget about how grateful I am to be alive every day. But business-wise I have a few goals. I really want to publish the book I wrote, to make my podcast a top-rated show on iTunes, and to be the authority on game day in Dallas.
What are your goals for the year?
Is it bad that I want my 10-year plan to happen already? I think I just want to grow, whether it’s one follower or one more listener I just want to make progress and enjoy the process more in 2017.
What do you find are the top questions your followers tend to ask you most?
Where I bought something, but getting on the RewardStyle platform has helped with that. It’s funny but they ask me a lot of personal stuff, which I love. I always want to be approachable and keep things real with my followers. I’m happy to be an open book.
Pretend you’ve agreed to participate in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. You’ve been told that you are only allowed to bring 5 items of clothing (including shoes and swimwear) and 3 beauty products what would you bring?
This is so hard. One Teaspoon cutoff shorts, a workout outfit from Outdoor Voices, Chuck Taylors, Vitamin A swimsuit, my vintage Stanford sweatshirt. And for makeup, Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30, simple foaming facewash and Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu moisturizer. I guess I don’t really need a toothbrush or underwear, right?
Where are people most likely to find you?
Currently, I’m hitting OrangeTheory and BodyBar pretty heavy since I’m trying to get back into shape from a year of not prioritizing it! And I also try to get to at least one sporting event a week here in Dallas so right now it’s not uncommon to see me in Victory Park. But maybe the best place is the Katy Trail, my Frenchie Stan and I try to get out there a couple times a day.
